Check-in problem in Version Control

Post » Mon Nov 19, 2012 8:51 am

I've just set up Version Control and currently testing to see if it's working ok, but have two question about checking in:

1) After adding a couple of buildings to my worldspace with a new .esp active in the CK, I'm trying to merge these into my main worldspace .esm, and when opening up Version Control in the CK I see there are forms listed for both my .esm and .esp files when 'altered view' is selected at the bottom left hand corner. Do I also need to check in the forms that relate to the .esm? Just wanted to confirm this is correct.

2) When attempting to check in any forms I've selected (after checking them out first, after following the Maegfaer tutorial), a box comes up entitled 'enter check in comment'. After I ok that, a select file menu appears prompting me to select an .esm file from the 'Merging/data' folder. After I select my own worldspace .esm file and click on 'save', a confirmation menu appears which tells me my main worldspace.esm file will be made dependent on the other .esm files within the 'Merging/data' folder. If I click on 'yes', the following message comes up: 'Sorry, until we're working on DLC the correct answer is no. You may need to remove an unwanted master file dependancy from your plugin'. What I'm not 100% sure about is whether this is possibly due to me having made some kind of error when setting up VC, or whether it's because I need to hex edit the Skyrim .esm as explained at the bottom of the tutorial?? (I can check out forms ok, just have the problem when checking them in).

And if it's due to the latter, what program would I use to hex edit the Skyrim.esm?

Any help would be appreciated.

1) Yes. You've altered them in your esp; the changes will be made in the esm when you check in.
2) What other esms does your esp depend on?

Hi, thanks for the reply. Regarding Q.2., there are 4 esm files that I've placed into the Merging/data folder besides mine: Skyrim.esm, Update.esm, Dawnguard.esm & Hearthfire.esm. My esp would depend on them all as my mod will be making use of all of them (including the DLC esms at one stage or another)
