The book can be found in various locations. One notable one is the Dropdead Falls cave in Fort Dawnguard. You'll have to go through a series of puzzles before getting near the end and obtaining the book though. One other location is if you advanced far enough in the Dawnguard side of the story, when the people pitch a tent in Dayspring Canyon, there should be a book on one of the barrels.
