Was thinking it was more to do with that portal, maybe cut content?

Hes the harbinger. He made a deal with the ideal masters to grant him power in life in exchange for servitude in death. He fed on the entering souls so the ideal masters locked him away and scattered the shards so that he would never escape.

There's a portal in that room, protected by a grate.

I thought defeating the Reaper would open that grate, but it didn't. Maybe it was supposed to and it's a bug. Who knows. In the end, it was a bit anticlimactic.

wow this guy sounds imo bad ass evil to he bone. This is news to me going to look for him

wish this reaper was in masseffect..... sounds easy to kill him
