"Max concurrent quests"

Out of curiosity, if I make an SM node for a mod, and I want to have other, optional files add quests to that node (and let's assume that I don't know how many there could be), how many concurrent quests should I allow it to run?

Are there any troubles that arise from allowing the node to run more concurrent quests than it has? Is there any way to have the node run all quests concurrently qithout defining an explicit number?
