Official hardcoe Mode for Skyrim ( No Modifiation).

Post » Tue Nov 20, 2012 5:11 pm

Would you play a hardcoe mode for Skyrim if it was offered to you by Bethesda?

Once toggled on, the following things would happen (e.g.):

- Sneaking is 50% harder
- Staggering via Destruction just works 30% of the time, never against big enemies (Dragons, Giants)
- Shadowwarior has a cooldown (20sec or so)
- Sneaking damage bonus with bows is restricted to 2x
- Calm/Fear never work on the same target twice; enemies who are effected by Frenzy or fight targets effected by frenzy get immun to that effect, too
- Restore Health and Mana - potions work over time (8 secs) and share a cooldown (20 secs)
- enemy NPCs make use of perks in combat
- and much more.

What is your suggestion for a hardcoe mode?
Would you play it?

I think the NPC already make use of perks, but their AI just doesn't allow them to exploit their skills properly

I would not play a hardcoe Mode. But I support its inclusion for those players who want one.

Thanx for your response. Would you never play it, or at least test it once you′ve played through the game on "Normal"?What are your reasons not to play it hardcoe?

I have no interest. I prefer to make up and enforce my own rules. Each set of rules I make up is tailored to a specific character's needs. I don't believe one-size-fits-all rules, applied to all characters, is roleplaying.

Interesting. My character, for example, is allergic to Potions and can only use potions from his "vendor of trust" from his hometown (Riften).
What do you roleplay than?

Well, for starters, a game will have to be completely redesigned. Make AI smarter, require food/drink/sleeping, and skill is based on item, not perk.

Do this, and the game is already "hardcoe" mode.

Would you play it?
I'd actually pay to play it, but I'm not holding my breath. It seems with every release of a game, developers add more hand-holding. Sure, they're still fun games to play, but I'm sick of the Mario sickness plaguing this industry.

Hey Pseron, i understand what you are saying, but there are no consequences when you make up your own rules. Shouldn't there be some type of consequence to your actions or non-actions? Or do you make up your own consequences as well?

If they do add a hardcoe mode it should have locational damage and limb crippling. Would make combat more interesting. Make using a bow much more viable.

Staggering via Shield Bash should be turned down to 20%. 100% Shield Bash stagger makes the game way too easy.

Staggering with Archery's Powershot perk should be reduced from 50% to 10%. And Quickshot Perk should be disabled. Powershot and Quickshot makes the game way too easy for archers.

I would not have a problem if they have been working on a way to implement a hard core mode and it will be released in the next DLC or update. But if it is something they just decide to start up today I would say don't even bother. There are better things the team could be working on.
Hard core mode is basically a way for the game to be harder to exploit. All of the ideas you asked for are basically things you can control without a hard core mode.

Can't enter gated cities until revealed to be Dragonborn if Kahjiit (first Dragon would attack the night you reached whiterun)
Attacked by local thugs in Windhelm if Argonian or Dunmer, first time going there.
Cannot bribe guards for crimes like murder
failed bribery incurs new fine
attacked by Stormcloaks on sight if Atmer
Attacked by Stormcloaks if wearing imperial armor (vice versa) unless you are a general or the equivalent in that faction.
If you are the highest rank in the Stormcloaks/Imperials, the other side will attack you on sight unless disguised.
you get less respect when wearing thief armor
NPCs lose essential status after quest (unless they are the current Jarl or children)
you have to eat and drink
Kahjiits get sick from eating cheese
you get sick from eating too much of one food.
weapons breaking, again.
