Dawnguard Random Encounters?

Post » Tue Nov 20, 2012 12:41 pm

Okay. Anybody know any of the new Random Encounters that came from Dawnguard? I know a few..

Random Vampires (Most Common)

Random Dawnguard (If Vampire)

Random Werewolves (Seem to be rare)

Dawnguard Member VS Two Vampires. (The Dawnguard guy will drop his gear after the Vampires are dead due to "I quit! I can't do this!")

Two Dead Skeletons.. If you walk up to them, a Vampire Assassin will teleport and attack you.

If you have one of the Aetherium pieces, you may find a guy who will ask where you got it. After explaining, he and his guards will attack you.

Vigilants vs vampires.

Vampires with death hounds.

I had lone death hound attack Winterhold. Was kind of strange that he was alone. Checked everywhere.

Vampires desguised as vigilants (the dead bodies can be seen nearby), they call you over then attack you.

And finally: I had one case where vampires were disguised as vigilants and M'aiq was standing with them and watched as they attacked me. I killed them and then went to check his eyes just to be sure. M'aiq, I've got my eye on you, you potentially filthy master vampire... Funniest "bug" I've seen in a while.

Vigilants vs Vampires are in Vanilla Skyrim.

That was just a glitch were two encounters spawned right by one another.

This is a random event from the normal game, but is caused by Dawnguard since it should not be happening. My second character Aussie killed her Letrush clone problem off ages ago, and he was gone a fair while, the day she signed up for the Dawnguard the little sod came to life again. It seems the game is struggling to give her random events, some locations she is not going to get vampires so the game is determined to give her something. She saw Letrush twice in random locations running, the third time she killed him. He was dead she waited, no sign of immortality. She has now just seen him meet Maven's thug in a fourth location and get killed again, I will keep an eye out to see where that leads. He wants to be bait for some vampires Aussie is not going to object, he keeps following her around it is going to happen.

Don't forget the random "Traveller" that appears. Black hooded robes, a face only Molag Bal could love.

Basically reminded me of Mike Tyson pre-fight

Are there any new non-violence related random encounters?

I think one of the greatest advances of Skyrim over Oblivion was the addition of all kinds of random encounters with people/animals that did not want to automatically kill you. That took some getting used to on my part. My instinct from Oblivion was that if saw someone/something, just kill it. With Skyrim there was much more incentive to go investigate what was up with this new person you met instead of instantly initiating combat. I hope the game is not going to drift back into the "kill everything in sight" pattern of Oblivion.

He also drops a note. Read the note and follow the clues. :whisper:

Edit: A previous thread with a good collection of examples: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1390991-wierd-road-encounters/page__fromsearch__1

Not that I've noticed, but I could be wrong.

And I agree with you about more incentives to investigate, but Dawnguard keeps you on edge more, it's about fighting mostly.

I don't know if this is new or not, but outside Northwatch Keep (which is just over the water from Castle Volkihar) a hunter ran up to me and said he had been bitten by a vampire, and asked if I had a cure disease potion, which he gave me gold for.

That is not new.

Don't forget the vampire lord that summons two gargoyles and is accompanied by a thrall and a master vampire. My character is level 80 so that might have something to do with it.

Are you being a Liarjack or do you have any proof of this? (I'm level 81)

No I am not lying, and I do not find it unusual. The next time I play through I will make it a point to get a screen shot.
