Yeah I was quite surprised actually so vingalmo is not an random npc added to dawnguard. I am more interested in his backstory now.

Yeah when I read the night of tears I went daaam he must be really old. I think majority of the head hunchos of harkon's court are really old.

Well, Harkon was around before the founding of the empire......so I think they could have met both the dwemer and the snow elves. Although, I cant remember the exact date was when the dwemer turned to ash
