Favorite parts of Dawnguard (not involving Serana)

Pretty much what the tagline says.

I absolutely loved Harkon because he's a nice example of Bethesda not being afraid to ham it up.

The Snow Elf plotline also did a good job of showing how grey the world of Skyrim really is. The Companions aren't a collection of noble good guys with a heritage of defending humans but a bunch of guys who committed genocide on the native people.

Then they painted it over.

I also loved how, once more, a "prophecy" in the Elder Scrolls world is people saying something and other people working to make it happen.

The Forgotten Vale was also beautiful.

i did love the over the top harkon, and to be fair to the companions...they only committed genocide on elves, its not like they were people or anything lol

My favorite things were the snow elves, i liked learning about their religion, and the forgotten vale was just a cool place to explore. My top thing was crossbows, they fit my warrior better than my old ebony bow, and now i can recreate my old morrowind character right down to his weapons of choice (well mostly, still need an ebony beater staff)

I was a little let down by vl form, it was cool but playing in third person gives me a headache, and i couldn't fit through half the interiors i had to go through to finish the quest

Slaughtering the Dawnguard in their keep, turning it into their TOMB. :chaos:

I enjoyed the whole story and progression, but by far this was the most enjoyable.

I'm still on my first play through but I gotta say I found my new fav place in Skyrim. It involves getting 5 samples of that water to get inside a temple. the exact name of the place escapes me. You get one and then end up in a huge valley with two frozen lakes and 3 of those places to collect water. I'm running across the frozen lake with Serana and Uthgerd when Serana says "I feel the ice shifting"

Next thing I know two HUGE dragons break through the ice and attack me. I'm fighting one in the sky thats doing fire fly bys when the second one dives into the frozen lake and vanishes. I think to myself this is great, gives me a moment to focus on the one overhead. NOPE. Next thing I know the one in the lake charges up through the ice right under my feet. I just about [censored] myself it was awesome. By the time I took them both down there wasn't much left of the frozen lake that wasn't broken or on fire. Most epic dragon fight I had to date in Skyrim.

I thought that from the start.

I really like Fort Dawnguard.

It's pretty much my new home now.

Is there any "safe" storage there? I'd like to put some of my stuff there. Maybe not some important stuff though.

As I hear it there is one chest upstairs at the foot of a bed that is safe. The rest are not. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong though!

Does anyone know if Harkon's old room in the castle is safe? Both the antechamber and the coffin room?

I'm just loving the Vampire Lord form. Very fun to slaughter the Danguard with it. Or any other puny humans.

Now that I've finished it, the Snow Elf part of the questline was... more than amazing. Not to mention it got me right in the feels. The only thing in TES I can think of that can top it in that part (the touchy-ness) for me are the endings of the main and Tribunal questline in Morrowind.
The fight with Harkon was interesting, too. He wasn't joking, Vampire Lords are absolutely vicious in battle.

The fight with Vyrthur. Probably my favorite part in all of Skyrim and one of my favorite boss fights in TES. I also loved the Soul Cairn. I need to explore the Forgotten some more though. Will be going back soon enough, but I want to go back ALONE this time.

Read up on Saarthal.

Humans come from Atmora, set up Saarthal. Then they get roflstomped by the snow elves. Ysgramor didn't initiate, he responded.

To be fair, we don't actually know how honest the accounts of the nordic side are, they still could have done something to cause the attacks from the falmer. Though their account seems to be the most likely due to the lack of any conflicting ones.
