obvious question but do you currently have a follower? If you do, you can't take her. Otherwise I don't know. I never cured her.

Serana has a glitch in that she lacks dialogue choices. I can't tell her to wait or dismiss her simply because I don't get the dialogue choices to get her to rejoin. There's a couple of threads on this. I don't know if it's mod related or shortsightedness on Beth's part, but it's damn annoying.
