Gargoyles.. Nice Job!

Post » Wed Nov 21, 2012 4:47 am

Okay. I started a character who will be a Vampire Lord on the Dawnguard side and I was doing a mission for the Dawnguard to kill a Master Vampire.. Well.. He was at a Fortress that was at the south side.. Well.. I went into the first room, killing the vampires and keeping my attention on them then a Gargoyle just burst to life and scared the living crap out of me cause I thought Gargoyles were ONLY in the Dawnguard areas... Not in the Vanilla Forts...

So.. I was wondering, do some places now have Gargoyles? Like Forts only or Vampire spots only? -OR- Vampire Forts only?

Woah, you can encounter statue-ized gargoyles outside of Castle Volkihar? I've run into several in the wild and occasionally vampires attacking a town at night had one or two, but they spawned already active. Do you happen to know which ruin you found it in? I'd love to check it out myself and see if they manually put those in after Dawnguard was released, or if they're random.

It is in a Fort down south of the Throat of the World.. It is near a Dragon Den... Actually fast traveled to that Dragon Den and walked from there to get to it.

~Edit~

Hard to miss when looking for it.. Easy to never find it when not.

I knew from the moment I first saw one that it would attack me... or one of them would since there was several. I still jumped when it came to life and attack me though haha.

Are you perhaps talking about Bloodlet Throne? Yeah, I think they added a Gargoyle there.

Oh Bloodlet Throne! Makes sense, it's always been a vampire lair, gotta check that out then. And yeah, you can ask Serana to turn you into a Vampire Lord regardless of which side you choose.

So what's the point in choosing the vampire side?

You can buff up the vampire lord on the vamp side.

Yeah, on the vampire side you get access to things like the Bloodstone Chalice, which buffs your vampiric drain ball spell, and you get access to two amulets and two rings that each increase the VL abilities in some way. Same thing with the Dawnguard side, you get to use some unique equipment and spells you wouldn't get if you joined the vampires.
