Query: Is it safe to say that Harkon and Fam can all take on the Vampire Lord form?

Reason: I was recently tredgeing through my third Dawnguard run-through (currently beginning the forgotten vale) and a thought came to me. In the companions the only one I remember seeing turn Wolf was Frakas (at least it was one of them, the exact name escapes me atm) and Aela in the Undercroft. The others we're just told they are, but we never witness them change.

With Harkon and Fam I was made to believe that they all could take VL form due to the ritual they endured, yet we only ever saw Harkon turn. Now, I could 'assume' that Serana 'could' take VL form since later on she can turn us if we didn't take the gift from Harkon...but I'm thinking that this is likely a convenient mechanic and not necessarily 'lore'.

So I put it out there to you for discussion. What do you think?

I always thought so. In fact I thought all the vampires in harkon's court were vampire lords. I wish we had more vampire followers and when we transformed they would too.

Well if you walk into the court and transform one of them mentions that they aren't impressed, which would lead me to believe they can also transform. I believe all of them in the court can transform. By the way, if you are on pc, there is a mod that will make Serana transform into a VL when you do.

Its pretty much possible since I'm sure lord harkon most likely turned them all into vampires. So since they most likely have lord harkons blood running through them. I'm pretty sure that they are vampire lord's. Then since you can turn people into vampires from the radiant quests and because you have lord harkons blood in you. I'm sure they are also vampire lords. You just never see them change.

the VL form is for the origional vampires and one generation down from the origionals.

The rest are called thin bloods and are looked down upon by the court.



So yeah, I'd say they all could but never choose to in our game.

I got a question, if you walk into the place and try to kill them, do they transform before dying? if not then whats the use? otherwise we could hypothesize they turn into clown ninjas for all it matters.

i don't think they do.

Our character doesnt either. My guy turns into a pile of ash but I dunno if that's a mod cause theres no animation. I just die, unspawn, and ash spawns in its place lol

I'd assume that all of the Vampires in the court were turned by Harkon family members like the player is, so should be able to transform into a VL. It's kinda interesting that nobody besides Lord Harkon ever does. They call Vampires from outside the court thin-bloods, but Harkon still has contempt for the the player's version of Vampire Lord since he accuses you of being a 'half-blood'.

You know what I would have liked would be to turn the Dawnguard into Vampires like the original Dawnguard were.

Already a mod on PC that turns Serana into her Vampire Lord form when you turn into Vampire Lord...its one of those mods that should have been in the game anyway in my opinion.

Crazy PC players, they were all over that.
