Need help with main questline

Post » Tue Nov 20, 2012 9:16 pm

So I was doing the Dawnguard questline but haven't finished the main story.

Spoilers below....

I did not realize I was doing one of the main quests when I was doing the Dawnguard Discerning the Transmundane. So now when I go to the College of Winterhold there is no dialogue option for me to find the elder scroll. After completing Transmundane I thought it would pick back up both storylines, but it appears to have deleted the main one. I recall after speaking getting the Oghma Infinium seeing a quest update, but now I don't see anything in my log to do now to find the Elder Scroll. I would assume if I find the Elder Scroll it will fix both questlines, but I don't know what the next step is after getting the Infinium. Thank you for the help.

Report this to a mod to have it moved to the Dawnguard spoiler forum.

You don't have to learn the location from the College.
I had the same problem at first but:
Spoiler
If you proceed to where the Elder Scroll is you can continue the MQ as normal.

As for the Infinium there isn't anything else you could do with it besides reading it.

Thanks Griffix. It didn't tell me where to go for the ES though. Any tips?

If you've played the MQ before you can head straight for the site.

Spoiler
In the case you haven't, simply head to the Dwarven Ruins of Alftand.

Anytime.

If you need to know where it ishttp://tamrielma.ps/skyrim/
That map will give you a general location of what you look for.

Is it possible this changes each time? I've cleared that already.

The Elder Scrolls location never changes. In every game I've played it was in that location.
Spoiler
Remember you have to enter Blackreach to reach the area you are looking for to find the Elder Scroll.

You may have cleared it out but that doesn't mean you hadn't passed where you needed to go. By technicality you could enter any of those ruins and be lead to where you need to go to find the Scroll.

If you did Transmundane, then you were already in the tower of Mzark. If the elder scroll is not already in your inventory, then go to the tower of Mzark and get it. You had to do all the steps to get it just to transcribe the lexicon. So it is just sitting there waiting for you to pick it up.
