elder scrolls burden

Post » Wed Nov 21, 2012 2:17 pm

So I completed the vampire story line n had all three elder scrolls (60 pounds). I know how to get the dragon scroll out of inventory, but how do I get rid of the other two? My carry capacity is 630 but 40 pounds is still a considerable amount. Help please

Sell them to the Moth Priest, Dexion. He will give you 2000 gold for each.

They dont actually weigh anything, its just a number thats displayed for no real reason. They do not add to your weight limit, you dont need to worry about that. If you want to double check just get put in jail and it will remove all items giving you 0 weight but you will still have the scolls at hand.

I've noticed a few people mentioning this problem. All responses assume the people with this problem don't understand that quest items have no actual weight. However (in my case, along with others) it just isn't true. Upon completion of dawnguard the scrolls have weight. Selling the two to the moth priest solves 2/3 of the problem. The dragon scroll needs to be sorted out via the main questline.

I'm pretty sure quest items have weight because I've moved quite a few times and went naked with all my items in a chest and still had about 120 pounds of quest items stuck on me, I got a lot of weapons from unfinished quests still, they are definitely adding weight.

While this sounds helpful, I talk to dexicon n his only topics are "what do moth priests do exactly?" And "what do you know about the elder scrolls?" Neither end with "let me buy them" I've completed the vampire side and am now just given misc vamp quests. Did I miss something?

Why don't you just put them in one of your homes for now? I'm an avid collector in Skyrim and no way am I letting these babies go!

To answer its a quest item, I can't drop it, I can't share it. Its stuck in my inventory. Collage only buys dragon scroll, not the other two. N dexicon hasn't offered to take them... Hell at this point id PAY gold to get rid of them. Take all 600000 that I have

I have the same problem; can't sell to either the college or to Dexion. This character sided with the vampires. My other character sided with the dawnguard and she was able to sell all three at the end of the quest.

Erm, for those of you who insist that the scrolls actually are adding weight, precisely what figure are you looking at? The scrolls themselves? Or the "Carry Weight" figure at the bottom of the screen next to your gold balance? It's the latter that's accurate.

I have all three scrolls on me as well, but they add no weight at all despite what their description reads.

FYI This is a known problem, at the completion of the main VL quests the Blood and Sun elder scrolls lose their 'Quest Item' status and therefore HAVE weight. On the VL side there is no where/no one to sell them to.

And yet they still can't be dropped or gotten rid of in any other fashion. So they're not really losing their quest item status.

In that case, you can drop them. If they have weight (i.e. actually add to your encumbrance, not just list a weight value when you look at it), then it's not a quest item and can be dropped. If you can't drop them, then they're still quest items and don't have weight.

My character Braggen is already stuck with that many quest items, three scrolls is no big problem. They are still quest items, and not one of Braggen's many quest items weighs anything. He can put everything into storage except for the 8 quest items he is stuck with and he is carrying zero weight.

It wouldn't be that big of a problem if they didn't make them weigh 20 pounds each. This means I have 60 pounds of weight just taking up weight in my inventory. I've even tried using console comands to get rid of them but it wouldn't work.

Please do this if you haven't already:

Ignore what the weight value reads in their item descriptions. Instead, look at your "Carry Weight" value next to your gold balance. Now drop/put away everything you possibly can. Your Carry Weight value should read "0/(max weight)"

If it doesn't, okay then that ain't right. But not one person in this thread who's complained of the weight has actually indicated what value it is they're actually looking at.

If they lose their "quest item" status, then they can be dropped. Any quest item that cant be dropped despite its associated quest being complete meanse the items never had their flag removes, so are still "quest items" and thus weigh nothing. My normal weight when "empty" (Not including standard grear) is ~100, and with Dawnguard complete, and the 2 scrolls, it is still ~100.

Okay let me set the record straight. Yes they add weight. I just dropped all items except for the scrolls. I have 40 pounds in my inventory, I.e. the two scrolls do weigh something. No I can't drop them, put them into chests, or sell them. No npc anywhere has offered to take them. Can we please get passed the friggen trolling and get on topic? I have 700 weight capacity. That's a lot, but its still so little that I have to go through dungeons ignoring at least half of the good loot. (By good loot I mean stuff that is worth 100 gold or more per pound). 40 pounds deprives me of what ibe leveled up and worked hard for. And on a previous msg mentioning that she could sell them on the dawnguard side but not vampire side, unfortunately I went vampire. If there is no solution, bethesda pleaseeeeeee step in and fix this.

It's not trolling. I drop everything but my quest items and my encumbrance is zero. Either you have some mod which is messing about with stuff, or you encountered a bug. Your record is no straighter than ours.

Here's a mod for those on the PC who want to sell their scrolls, though.

On a side note can you actually sell the Dragon scroll back to the college after completing Dawnguard side? I couldn't, but then again I had sold it during the Main Quest, and rebought it just for the DG quest, so maybe you can't sell it to them twice. Although with that mod, I wouldn't sell it if I could - it looks great in my house.
