Lost to the Ages....seriously?

Post » Wed Nov 21, 2012 7:29 am

I just stumbled onto this quest yesterday, and it took me most of the day/evening to finish it. This is just a small, non-consequential sidequest in Dawnguard. I didn't even know it WAS a part of Dawnguard. This quest alone is longer than the DLC for the majority of games these days. Anywho...praises to that quest, and praise to Dawnguard!

Yeah this is a long side quest, I enjoyed going through it. Probably in a future update, they'll make the forge more useful.

And yet some people start threads questioning whether Dawnguard is worth the money, some people want everything for nothing-truly amazing.

Aetherial Crown is best crown. At least when you give it the Ritual Stone.

It was certainly a pleasant surprise to come across and I enjoyed the quest a lot.

Felt really bad looting her body though, her responding comment... :(

Lost to the Ages was the first quest I did in DG. After completing it, I couldn't believe it was considered "just a sidequest". That was a huge dungeon, with a great story and interesting characters (IMO). It was really fun and rewarding.

There were three more things in DG that made the DLC more than worth the money in my opinion. (These could be considered major spoilers, so I'll put them in spoiler tags so those who haven't finished DG don't get spoiled) :

Spoiler
Jiub!!!

Spoiler
When Jiub started speaking, my jaw dropped. His voice made my whole year. Thank you Bethesda!

Spoiler
Meeting unchanged Falmer. Not ghosts, or going back in time to speak with them via Elder Scroll. Real, live Snow Elves. That made me so happy. :celebration:

And I won't spoil this any further for anyone who wants to play the quest but as a long time TES fan, that entire quest - including all the references to all the games - is priceless. An immediate favorite for sentimental reasons.

I was also totally surprised to meet both of those in the DLC! :) The last spoiler made me very happy, as well!

I just loved the whole Auriel's Bow quest-line! I thought I just go to a cave to fetch a bow... oh how wrong I was! Brilliant story and amazing new areas!

Not just the amazing new areas, the great bow, the finding of the paragons, but my favorite part of DG, that really scared me was falling through the bridge. It was great and a very nice touch. I thought my character was going to drown, seeing as her head did not get bashed in. Now every time I walk on a path that is "slanted" I thing I am going to slide right off. lol

Zephyr, This weapon alone has made my Dwemer loving characters very happy.
The use of all of Radbthar in a quest.

OMG I know! My heart and my stomach dropped together with my character. And then being washed down so fast, there was nothing to hold on to! LOL It was amazing!

Hmm, I've read a copy of that book, but I don't see a quest in my log "Lost to the Ages". Do I need to read the whole book? I need to check that tonight! :)
