Sacrificing Armor For RP Purposes?

Post » Wed Nov 21, 2012 8:24 am

I have recently got more into RPing on Skyrim so I decided to start a new character. She is a redgaud woman named Verma. I also decided to make her a backstory to make the game more enjoyable. She was the first woman to ever reach the rank of Captain in the Hammerfell military but after a critical mistake that cost the lives of her men, she was relieved from the military and banished from Hammerfell. She left with dis-harmony and swore she would rise the ranks of another military and eventually wipe out the Hammerfell Military.(Imperials). Although she cursed hew homeland, she was accustomed to using weapons and clothing from her homeland. After finding two Redgaurd militia-men in Whiterun asking about a run-away, she followed them outside of the hold, and killed them, taking their weapons and clothing to make her feel more like a true Hammerfell Warrior.

Now, I plan to use a Scimitar and Dagger combo for combat purposes but I dont know if I want to sacrifice just about all of my armor by wearing the Hammerfell Garb,Alik'r Hood, and Redgaurd Boots, and leaving only my gauntlets to protect me. DOes anyone else sacrifice just about all of their armor for RP such as in this case? I guess I could raise sneaking to make up for poor protection, but will it be enough? Also, I plan on keeping my difficulty at either Adept or Expert.

All the time. I find that if you min/max the game it becomes too easy. RPing restrictions on a character keeps it interesting.

I do this sort of thing all the time. One of my recent characters Neith was also a Redguard. She was a no armor character too. She was also a no magic character as well. No spells, no magic items, no potions. She was a very challenging character to play.

Hmm, yeah I guess it will work. And if it doesnt then there is always a difficulty slider. =P

I tend to wear armor for combat if only because it makes sense for a character to armor-up before going into battle. I don't really care how much protection it offers. I usually find a suit I find appealing for the character and stick with it.

yes, quite a bit. i play an Imperial who is an agent for the Empire and wears plain clothing for the most part. i carry a full set of armor with me and change into a full helm only kit so people don't know who i am. i also refuse followers because it's my burden alone. but yeah...and i'll use an inferior set if it sets off my RP...
