In other words each time the inventory is changed, the game updates the contents of the shelf in question - graphically speaking.
I'm guessing I would need to refresh or update the shelf container after the player or script adds or removes a book, but I'm not certain which if any function will allow this to happen without the user seeing a lot of inventory windows.
