I am making my way through a new playthrough of Skyrim ready for Dragonborn, and I have refused to do the Thieves Guild quests, despite the quest chain being my fav in the game. The reason being that my character is a chaotic good character, and would never sell his soul to a Daedra, as he despises them all and refuses to acknowledge them, much less converse with them.

Isn't there some way to get around the whole selling your soul part of the TG questline? Can I not offer her an abundance of Dragon Souls? Maybe have it be a regular payment, an offering of, say, ten Dragon Souls for every in-game month that I want to be an agent of Nocturnal? There's no punishment for not paying tribute, I just simply lose my Nightingale status and abilities.

C'mon, Beth, I KNOW I am not the only person who would love this option for their good characters as well.

And for those wondering why I want to join the TG if I'm playing a good character, it's because he plans to rebuild them into an information network so he can find the true scum,bags of the world; killers, bandit gangs, and also because he wishes to use their wealth to help the needy all over Skyrim.

Interestingly, in the quest Sovngarde, Tsun always says "When you have completed your count of days, I may welcome you with open arms & bid you join the blessed feasting" Even if you're a Nightingale, & even tell him you are.
Probably just a dialogue mistake, but an awesome mistake...

He's chaotic good, ie. he doesn't give a [censored]. I did already explain though, he plans to use this slightly bad organisation to get rid of the far worse ones. And he would happily slit Maven's throat at the first opportunity, too (same goes for the rest of her psychotic family, as well).

just stop once you have the skeleton key then. use her artifact without acknowledging/returning it to her

That is the intended path anyway for those that don't want to be a Nightingale. As in all things, one cannot have their cake and eat it too.
