I want to take advantage of the glitch where I can reverse pickpocket the Jagged Crown and keep it for myself but I cannot remember who I followed out of Helgen. Is there some clue or something that I can do to let me know who I followed? I tried hanging out at the Riverwood Inn hoping one of the dude's will show up, but so far nothing.

I havent started the civil war quest yet (mainly because I want to join the side where I can keep the crown) so maybe thats why I cant find either of those dudes.
