...that not once, in any screenshots or trailer stills of Dragonborn, have we seen the Dovahkiin actually wielding a spear?

Obviously, spears do make an appearance - in the hands of the Rieklings. But the Rieklings are monster mobs, akin to Falmer - we never see a NPC actually wielding a spear.

Does anyone else think it's possible that spears won't be usable weapons? Recall that with Dawnguard, Bethesda was very open about the addition of crossbows. We haven't heard a word about spears in any of the official information, and the files found in the patch could easily be animations for the aforementioned Rieklings. I want spears just as much as anyone else, but I'm honestly suspicious as to why nothing solid regarding them has actually surfaced.

I apologize if this is a repost, but does anyone have a definitive yes or no answer to this question?

Either Bethesda has used previous equip types or they're not in, apparently. Rumour that they may be able to be used as arrows (Rieklings are tiny I guess..)

As best as I understand it, only enemies will be wielding spears.
