Ring of Hircine - Transformation Bug

Hey folks. (Just a heads up, this could be pretty spoilery if you haven't seen or heard of Hircine/The Companions).

So this problem has been around since last year I believe, and I've seen a few posts on various mishaps with Lycanthropy/Hircine's Quest. However, I've yet to come across a fix for my awkward bug. So after a year of putting up with not being able to transform into a Werewolf, I've come to tap your communal wisdom.

Let me lay this out for you:
  • Completed the Quest "Ill Met By Moonlight".
  • Got the ring, it worked, all was good.
  • Then I joined The Companions and contracted Lycanthropy.
  • I did the long chain quest to cure it (Witch's heads etc).
  • Successfully doing so resulted in Hircine's Ring being unusable, I could equip it, but nothing I did would transform me into a wolf.
  • Stopped playing for a few months. I recently returned to the latest patches, which apparently fixed exactly what I describe.
Here's what TES Wikia has to say about it;

If you have already obtained and cured lycanthropy through http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/The_Companions, the ring has no effect. But, a recent effect of patches 1.3 and 1.4 allow the ring to be used even after being cured.

Well it doesn't. Still can't transform. One small detail I did notice though is that under the Active tab in Spells, Additonal Werewolf Transformations does show up when the ring is equiped but there is still nothing under the Powers tab to activate it. I should probably also mention I Do Not have Dawnguard. Yet. But I do have Hearthfire.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks again.
