Does anyone here longboard? I just started and have been doing it for 2 weeks now. For those that don't know a longboard is like a bigger skateboard meant more for speed and distance than doing tricks. There are different types better and worse for different things and there's a lot that can be done with setting up the board. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Longboarding I think most longboards aren't as big as that one in the linked picture.

I've slowly been getting better at it. The hardest thing for me so far has been the push off. It looks simple but requires a lot of practice to get better with it. It's fun and I also plan to be using it for transportaion, instead of just riding a bike or running to places.

I skateboarded for about 5 years, but I never got into longboarding.

Seems like it's becoming quite the fad lately. Everyone around here is doing it. I'm thinking about trying it out.

I used to have a sweet Sector 9 when I was a teen. I had it customized beautifully. The high school of the town I live in is built on a hill and it has a beautifully paved road running down the middle, no speed bumps and always had good pavement due to minimal use. The first time I bombed the hill I had no clue what I was doing and went straight down instead of carving. I had to bail due to speed wobbles and my board kept going, it came within inches of getting run over on the cross street. After that, I had a buddy teach me how to properly carve and skid my foot to maintain speed. Made it much more fun.

I thought about it but couldn't afford a longboard. Just as well, doesn't seem like my thing.
