I've received an Xbox 360 S as a very unexpected present yesterday, and I have some questions because I've never owned a console before (well, apart from the SNES which wasn't really mine, and a PS2 I borrowed).

My cousin has the old Xbox 360, and he told me he had to buy a receiver to connect to Xbox Live. Do I have to buy a receiver of sorts to connect to xbox live?

I should note that the wifi connection is weak from where the xbox is placed, so I am also looking at getting a homeplug or something which will enhance my wifi connectivity.

So, is an 'xbox receiver' needed like my cousin got for his older model, or do I only need something to strengthen the wifi signal?
