PC update method - PS3

Post » Wed Nov 28, 2012 5:31 am

I was wondering if there is anywhere I can download the latest patches/updates to my PC, save to a usb flash drive and update (a la the psn PC update method) using the flash drive on my ps3?

Internet is painfully slow where I live but I am able to use normal speed dsl to download at work.

Lol

Not only would that be illegal but also impossible for the patches without a hacked console

Ok, maybe not illegal, idk what the terms of access to sen is from an unauthorised device.

He's asking if he can download the Skyrim PS3 patch to a flash drive as you can with PS3 firmware updates.

Topic: Sadly no, as Sony only allows for system updates to be downloaded via pc.

Just fair warning: Beth and mods do not take kindly to this sort of discussion. Be careful what you post in the future and be sure to read the community guidelines; you'd think it's just a long legalese version of the "don't be a jerk" rule, but there's actually more to it than that.

He is asking if it's possible to download the patch for PS3 on a PC and the transfer it to the PS3. He's not asking how to hack or mod the console or files.

Simple and legit question.

Or is the patch illegal, is that what you're saying?

that is exactly what I was asking. Not trying to break any laws...I'd be pretty stupid to ask about a download I knew was illegal on a Bethesda sponsored board.

Either way, you can't without a hacked console.
After, I think, system version 3.56 they disabled installation of update pups from usb devices.
Game update pkgs can only be installed if you have a modified firmware or QA flagged console.

Pretty stupid on their part. Totally know your pain of downloading a 200MB file and having it fail 3/4 of the way.

Aye, but he didn't ask for instructions how to crack and add custom content for the PS3. He was simply asking if Sony and Bethesda has support for this, ie downloading PS3 patch via PC then apply the patch via USB.

He wanted this because he has a slow connection, not because he's trying to crack anything.

Yes, and the answer I gave was no.
I don't see the problem here.

You should have said No, since this is the case. Even if it's possible by cracking the answer is No, because we should expect that he is asking if there is a legit way which is isn't.

edit: What you did now is that you made me curious about cracking ps3 and so forth :P
