Cyrodil is not the only form of PvP

http://www.gameinformer.com/b/podcasts/archive/2012/05/31/special-edition-podcast-the-elder-scrolls-online.aspx

About 26 to 27 minutes in the devs let slip that there are multiple types of PvP. "You will be able to go into a battle ground or, or Cyrodiil" "That's part of the PvP system. Cyrodiil is the open world."

Am I hearing this correctly?

Possibly.

Or possibly this is a bit of information they let slip early and haven't talked about since.

you better be right that its an open world PvP .. thats something that really i need to have .. Open World PvP is a VERY big thing i need when playing an MMO.
i have NO intention of becoming a professional mobb killer.

Well there IS world vs world PvP. That's no secret. That's one of the main focuses of the game.

The bit of information I think I found is that there is also an alternative structured PvP.

I'm not suggesting that there is "anywhere" PvP. I doubt we will get that and many people don't want it.

It would be nice of the battleground system was also inspired by DAoC, instead of the generic MMO crap we have today.

Castle siege BGs were awesome.

"PvP comprises a major portion of endgame content in TES:O, with a mix of open-world RvR and instanced arenas. No one will be forced to PvP if they do not wish to do so, PvP participation is purely voluntary either by entering a battleground or Cyrodiil. http://tamrielfoundry.com/development-faq/#ref

In order to maintain the PvP focus on the massive realm war in Cyrodiil, ZeniMax has elected to not include any form of structured or instanced PvP at launch. They want players’ focus to be on the alliance war, which is the crowning facet of TESO’s gameplay. http://tamrielfoundry.com/development-faq/#ref"

from the tamriel foundry faq.

I think the only place it will be open PvP is in Cyrodiil. I played DAoC for 5 years and I really can't see ESO being that much different from DAoC Realm vs Realm or RvR. You go to Cyrodiil and you can be killed, stay in your home province / pact area you are safe from any player attacks, maybe there will be dueling with your own faction.

Cyrodiil is open world PVP but it's not open server PVP. Cyrodiil is a zone just like the other faction zones so pvp happens in the open world, that's old news to be honest. PvP will not happen in the PVE faction areas, if their are battleground they will happen in a private instanced like all battlegrounds in other MMOs.

I think the OP is grasping at straws and trying to look for something that isn't there.

Yeah, I like the way they had the little battlegrounds in DAoC, used to be able to go in there for a few levels before going up to the next level mark. Like 10-19, 20-29 etc... and seige the castles and stuff. Was a great time and required team work for sometimes a few hours to get inside.

I really do not care for the sport or arena style pvp, I think it would be cool if they do add it to have like a gladiator style with crowds and betting, but if it anything like WoW then it will just be crap. If I wanted to do that kind of pvp (deathmatch) I would play BF3.

I think a Darkness Falls type dungeon would go down a treat.

For those that don't know about DF and how it worked.
