Defeating Madanach help? : V

I was fighting Madanach earlier (and currently) as a PC with little one handed skill (22) and given only a pickaxe i am unable to defeat him as between the frost cloak he uses and the shiv he utterly wipes me out.Most of my perks are in Archery which does me no good in fighting him.I am currently level 31 on the Xbox so i can not use console commands.

Any advice on how to defeat him?
