Would like some help finishing my new character's backstory

I've had this idea for a new character in my head for a couple of days and I would really like to get to playing him, but I can't seem to come to a solid and complete backstory for him yet. I would like some help on tying up the loose ends with him. Note that this backstory goes against the lore from Oblivion a lot, and I don't really care if the backstory is lore friendly or not as long as it makes sense in the context of fantasy.

Spoiler
What I have so far is that back during the Oblivion crisis, Mehrunes Dagon wasn't completely satisfied with his army of Dremora, as even though they served him loyally, he desired a small army of Champions to carry out his most difficult tasks, and the Dremora were simply lacking in his eyes for this purpose. Instead, Dagon enslaved certain humans, banished their souls and gave a fragment of his soul to them. In essence, they were copies of Mehrunes Dagon in human form. They had all of the goals, desires, and power that Dagon himself had, though on a lesser scale. These champions, known to the people of Tamriel as Dagon's "Death Knights" were masters of warfare and instruments of death and destruction. They were immortal due to having the soul of a God, and over the course of the Oblivion crisis they wreaked havoc across Tamriel and showed no mercy. Even the highest ranked Dremora feared them.

After Dagon was defeated and cast back to Oblivion, the souls of the Death Knights were destroyed and all of them ceased to exist as a result, except for one. As it turned out, there was one Death Knight who also had the soul of a dragon. The Dovahkiin lost only some of the power he had as a Death Knight, and retained his dragon soul. Still immortal and much more powerful in this stage then any non-divine being, he set out in a trance of rage, destroying anyone and anything that had to do with the Deadra because of Dagon's failure to be his master. The other Deadra soon imprisoned him for his heresy however, and he was cast into a Deadra realm of nothing. For 300 years the complete silence, darkness and loneliness destroyed him from the inside out. He forgot everything he knew, including Dagon's magic that made him so powerful in the first place. After this time though, Akatosh and the other Divines intervened and released him back to Tamriel, for they knew he was the only one who could stop Alduin. Now serving as the champion to Akatosh, his new master, the former Death Knight set out to Skyrim and was forced to remember and relearn the powerful magic he had long since forgotten. Once he gained back his strength, he faced Alduin and defeated the beast. As a reward for his obedience, Akatosh freed him of his Deadra soul, and left him only with the soul of the Dovah.

Any advice at all on how I could improve this is much appreciated. My biggest problem will be feeling powerful in the game. How do I feel like I am playing a walking remnant of the God of Destruction? Obviously theres mods that will make my character this powerful, but I still will feel weak when a bunch of bandits or thieves won't run away from me.

Edit:
Just so you get the general idea of how this character will look, he will be a Nord.

This will be his horse - http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/25097
This will be his weapon of choice - http://static.skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/images/15494-1-1334851466.jpg

Not sure of armor yet, definitely heavy though and dark themed.

As for when you make bandits run away, there is a dragon shout for that unless their level is too high. But you seem to want them to run away from the very sight of you... I'd think that would require a mod on bandits themselves.

Perhaps your character isn't known/recognized as the powerful being they are?

I think that backstory is pretty fleshed out, what more do you need? As for armour, go Ebony until you can unlock Daedric or get the Lord Armour which I believe is on Nexus as well as the Workshop.

Maybe because the ending svcked so much they had to change it.

Because some people still like to craft stories around things other than Mass Effect?

I like to write. I like to roleplay. I still play RP MUDs. And when I play Skyrim, I don't treat it like I would Counter Strike.

Cool backstory, kinda similar to one of my characters. Looks like you got it well covered, I'm not really sure what I could add. I would maybe make Illusion, and use fear spells. I love it when a bandit charges me only to turn around and run for the hills, and then get a sword though his back.
