A better mage

Skyrim is beutiful, it is plentifull, and it is involving. Everything exept combat.

Now, I understand that the mod I am about to suggest is going to be overpowered, atleast unless every other aspect of the game gets changed. BUT, the combat in skyrim is horrendous. Unless you stay at a distance, and make sure that you can easily kill the mobs, then you are dead. Oh, you can always use the menues to pause the game, load up on potions, and get back at slashing.

The reason to why the combat is horrendous is that it is unresponsive at worst, unreliable at best. And it rests to heavily on menue crawling.

The good people of the modding-community has tried to solve this problem, and have come up with some really creative ways. But it is not enough. Bethesda can create alot, but they cannot refine.

So, looking at some of the hotkey-mods and what they do, it is apparent that there is possible to create and maintain a multitude of hotkeys and combinations. But it still rests on activation time and reliance. Using More Hot Keys Please mod allows the player to hotkey anytspell in any combination. And it would have been enough, if it worked in combat, and if it was quick enough.

Instead, what you get is autocast as slow as death (litteraly), and in many combat scenarios, autocast that gets stuck in animation.

So, my suggestion is: Why not make all the spells like powers. They activate automatically, and kan be hotkeyed with auto-cast and no delay. I am guessing that anyone who has played games can appreciate a reactive game, so I wont go into detail explaining why this is a boon for anyone who loathes constant menu-crawling.

Ofocurse, the problem the lies with leveling and perks. How about setting the spells to only be possible to be learned when having a certain level in that school. And if someone can edit this, going to some enchanter-shrine, allows you to create new powers based on whatever new perks you have aquired.

Or something... I dont know. I bought the game on release, and I retried it a couple of times because i want to get into it, do quests, and find items. But it just is not fun, there is no challenge. Either you kill easily, or you die. There is no in between. Oh, and you have to micro-manage everything. Fun, yes, but not the way that skyrim does it. I am so sad.
