Most Ambitious Add on with Zero Press

Post » Tue Dec 04, 2012 3:51 am

Many of you are like me and every day check the Bethblog for some information on Dragonborn and today I found this

We’re less than 24 hours away from unleashing Skyrim’s next add-on Dragonborn on Xbox LIVE. It’s one of our most ambitious add-ons ever and we’re excited for everyone to play it.

Okay that sounds awesome but why are there still little to no official details about the DLC if it is so ambitious? Especially with Christmas shopping going on. Shouldn't they not be shutting up about it or at the very least doing some interviews or release a few extra screenshots for us to drool over until we start inundating our keyboards with saliva. Even Tomb Raider publisher took the opportunity to release some screenshots for their game.

Anyone have any clue what is going on?

dragonborn release date: less then 15 hours from now. I don't see the need for more info or screenshots.

This, and to be honest there are some leaks about it already.

Yeah but it is very unusual to have so little press, it's not like they don't have money to do it. Perhaps this leak business was part of their PR?

Yeah I've already check out the leaks and I'm stoked. I started this thread not as a complaint thread to inquire as to why Bethesda didn't really push this dlc with interviews screenshots and hype but just kind of pushed it out the door? It doesn't make a lot of sense especially around Christmas time when they really need to rake in the sales.

I hope the PS3 players also get Hearthfire and Dawnguard, I think they've waited long enough.

Then why start banning anyone who posted leaked information like they were trying to hide something.

theres no real reason to put a lot out about it
we need to know what its generally about: the trailer gave us that
we need to get a feel for new things like weaps, spells, new looks for new areas: the trailer gave us that
we need a release date:beth gave us that
it not like this is a whole new game with different mechanics and controls
theres no need for much info
plus, why spoil it?
just play the dlc and find out yourselves
plus they probably learned their lesson from dg
give this fanbase the smallest bits of info about a good portion of the dlcs features, and insane speculation insues
leading to disappointment in the end
at least this way beth can say 'anything you thought up is on you. we didnt fuel any (well most) of it'

Well I disagree with your assertions. While we know the location, potential main enemy (plot twist maybe???), and a few tidbits we can gleam from the trailer that is about it. I can't say what the story is about just that it in some way involves the first Dragonborn. The main question could be entirely centered around the first DB or it could simply involve him and you in a larger plot.

Aside from the leaked spell information that could be false we don't know that much about the spells or new weapons or Armor.

Plus the game adds Dragon Riding and more but we wouldn't know about most of the details of that if not for leaks that we can't discuss.

I'm not asking for spoilers but what about those who want to know how this stacks up against Bloodmoon or how in depth the Dragon riding will be. There doesn't need to be major spoilers but some answers would be appreciated so everyone knows how much to be hyped up about this DLC.

The weird part is how it got less media attention than the other DLC.

The disappointment btw can hurt Bethesda's reputation and many gamers won't buy games from companies with bad reputations hurting day one sales and increasing piracy rates. Just saying that'ts money that could go into developing more content or a better sequel that they won't be seeing. No one likes cocky companies say its all on you and with the PS3 issue does Bethesda really need more bad press?

It's not like advertising companies haven't done similar things before, it adds to the verisimilitude of the leak, innit?

...yeah if you couldnt gather anything from that then you are asking for spoilers pretty much
sorry, but if you gained that little from a trailer, you may wana watch it again
please dont tell me that youre even gonna think about not getting this because you havent been spoiler-overdosed?
what were you wanting? a pdf of every line of dialog to 'get a feel for the dlc'?
theyve given enough
if you havent absorbed anything then thats your deal, but i definitely got enough to make it to the dlc launch
pretty sure this isnt gonna do [censored] to damage sales (not counting the ps3 thing going on)
sorry bud

I think it has to do with the PS3 and the problems they have been having getting Dawnguard to work well enough to release. Don't think Bethesda wouldn't love to advertise Dragonborn, especially since it is Christmas season, but they practically can't until they sort out the PS3 problem.

Notice how the blog post they put out mentioning Dragonborn's release also has mention of the PS3, they know they have their work cut out for them. They can't get too far behind Dragonborn without reminding everyone PS3 is still waiting, Bethesda knows that, and they will hopefully have everything sorted out within the next couple of months.

Because this is how they usually go with dlc before release.

Lol, you said "chief".

I dunno, I remember seeing a lot more info in the usual periodicals for Dawnguard and Hearthfire. Even the two Fallout game's DLC had reviews before release.

Hearthfire we got no info besides what was in a trailer, and dawnguard was in E3, which is why it got so much more info released. Not to mention DG was the first dlc for Skyrim.
