Nif question

I've only recently started playing Skyrim, and even ore recently decided I wanted to mod a few changes in my game. I started with a simple armor adjustment on the forsworn armor, altering the textures and removing some parts of the armor. It worked fine. Next, I decided I wanted to alter the mage apprentice robes, and I wanted to start by getting rid of those ridiculous pants. Slitted robes would be cool for females who want to emulate Jlo, I thought...

Anyway, after finally figuring out how to add alpha in nifskope to skyrim nifs, I discovered that there was no way to make the body visible, and the character just floats along a meter above their feet on invisible legs. After some investigation, I stumbled upon a page that describes removing body parts in blender that are covered by armor or clothes, In a little section covering "Why this optional step should be done" it listed "Bethesda does it" as a reason, followed by a wink that indicated that if Bethesda does it, that's how it should be done. How nice... unless you want to alter the mesh...

The question is, is there anyway to put the missing body parts back short of recreating the thing in Blender?
