Too late to change archetype?

Post » Wed Dec 05, 2012 9:50 am

Been playing a Dunmer Matriarch (Deathknight-esque character)
Meaning: 2 Handed, smithing, enchanting, some alteration - some restoration - some conjuration and using heavy armor (Though didnt invest in armor perks yet)

Im lvl50 atm. Meaning I have 31 perks left.

Do you guys think Its to late to change over to thief? Ill probably need 5+ perks in stealth, 5+ in one handed, about 10 in illusion? Not sure how to go about it.

If you only had 31 perks, how would you distribute them for an assassin/Thief characters using stealth/backstab?

It's not too late at all. I'd put five in stealth and then go up the right side of the sneak tree. You can get some really good enchanted gear to fortify 1 handed, fortify archery and muffle if you decide to join either the DB or the TG. Or you can just do the Destroy the DB and get it quicker. I've never felt the need for illusion spells, bu if you have a somewhat higher magic, then sure put some perks into that. You still might want five in Light Armor, but that's just my opinion.

You could always make a new character, a thief. Especially since, to get those remaining 31 perks, you'll also have to play as a mage (max out all 18 skills).

(really, level 50 is pretty high level. Nothing wrong with making a new one. Unless "get to lv81" is a particular goal.)

I agree! It's not too late at all. I'm at level 65 ish and I'm switching to archery... granted I had a lot of saved perks I hadn't spent. Plus there are perks in the trees you wish to switch to that you probably won't want to spend on.

The problem is that this is my last and final character :) Planning to do everything with her. Ive allready played skyrim almost 450 hours now so replayability is gone for me because every vanilla quest and secret has been done to death.

Ahh the God character. I was in the process of doing that one before disaster struck.

It sounds like you have quite a few perks saved up, so yeah, you should be able to switch archetypes. You can always just save up all your perks, get to lvl 81 and decide then what to do.

Here is my advise, those perks that increase damage/sneak/whatever by a % are a total waste. If this is you do all guy then get the perks that have special abilities to them. Sneak roll? Yes. Decapitation? Yes. Walk faster with a drawn bow? Yes. Cast a spell while stealth? Yes!

My point is that enchanting and smithing can balance out what you skip in perks. So get the perks that are unique.
