Starting to get a little depressed (details)

Post » Thu Dec 06, 2012 1:53 am

Hi, everyone. I'm currently enrolled in an early entrance program to a university a couple of hours from home, and I'm in a residence hall with about 100 kids around my age.

The problem is that, since we live together, we've become very close, and I've honestly made a handful of very close friends. I know this sounds like a good thing, but to put a long story short, I'm beginning to get very saddened by the prospect of parting ways with many of them when summer rolls around. I'm the type of person that easily gets attached to other people, and leaving the dorm for the one week Thanksgiving break was pretty tough in and of itself.

Is there anything I can do to feel better? Any advice in general for the entire situation?

Thanks.

Get used to it?

I did a similar thing in university living in a dorm building, and once University is done now, everyone I knew has gone their separate ways......you'll keep in contact with a few people that stay in the area, but I've always found the best way is to just move on and meet new people. You'll be surprised how quickly you'll make friends at your first job, and I'm quite an introvert and yet even I found it enjoyable.

It is never fun saying goodbye to friends who are leaving, but as your life goes on you'll have to do it many times.....you can't make your life decisions based on what your friends are doing..... that's a very quick way to hold yourself back and end up somewhere you dont want to be.
