Skyrim, Ps3 and Samsung TV

I renamed HDMI2 " PC" and seems to have improved the graphics but I think it changed the perspective.

Has anyone ever done this and does it improve the picture or am I imaging it?

That's not how it works lol. You are imagining it. Hdmi is hdmi. Doesn't change.

No, it does something because Samsung tells you to do this if hooking a pc up to a tv. I was just wondering how this affects the PS3.

A lot of TV models do some sort of simple and quick image processing to make the TV look better. PC mode disables all these processing. I think it's the correct thing to do when hooking up a console box to the TV, although I'm not 100% sure.

It likely removes all input resolution detection and pushes the res to the TV's max. You would then need to adjust your PC to match that native resolution. I wouldn't advise using this for your console though unless your TV's native resolution is 720 or 1080.

That is what I was thinking. My samsung is 1080p so I think it will be okay.

I hope someone with a samsung and a ps3 can check it out.

You renamed the label from HDMI to PC? No, just renaming the connection isn't going to change anything. Now if you changed to a different connection.. yes that would make things different. You can also do some longer pushes on your power on your PS3 to force it to automatically detect what setting it should use.

But simply renaming your TV's input to a different name isn't changing anything. That's like Doug changing his name to Beth Anne and thinking that's making a change.. dude still needs surgery.

Many TV's allow you to personalize your input labels. I've changed mine to name the actual device it's connected to for ease of use for the family. Of course if you mean something different.. ignore everything I've said. :P

I talked to a samsung rep and he explained to me that renaming an hdmi port to PC prevents overscan and allows 1:1 mapping.

I found the graphics are better and there is alot less lag.
