Eastern Invisible Barrier near Refugee's Rest passable

Quick and dirty disclaimer first;
I apologise if this has already been covered dozens of times, also this is in reference to the 360 version- I am aware that circumventing invisible barriers on the pc version is a cakewalk due to noclip console command and file tweaking mods etc etc

Anyway,
I'm not a huge fan of pre-release research or fact finding, I like there to be as much mystery and sense of discovery as possible. So having said that, my very first action upon DL'ing the Dragonborn DLC was to fast travel to Refugee's Rest and head east along the road. Not much deep though to it, just sort of made sense in my mind and was my reflexive response to having a general idea of Solstheim in regards to skyrim geography.

Lo n behold I ended up running for a couple minutes straight in a barren snow foresty wasteland. I'm just wondering if
A) This is a bug
B) It has happened to most or all 360 dragonborn dlc owners
C) If anyone has found anything interesting out there in the eastern wilderness, it seems like an uncoded wasteland aside from the terrain being detailed

I dont understand why a barren snow foresty wasteland in Sostheim could be considered a bug.Post again when you find the desert terrain
