NPC Behavior

Just wondering if there's any way to reset NPC behavior (or packages or AI or whatever it is). Once an NPC dies and another takes over for them in the game world, is it possible to bring the former NPC back to life and reset the latter to act as though nothing happened at all? I've tried using resetai, evp, resurrect, disable/enable, etc.. and nothing seems to work. I've killed, disabled, enabled, resurrect'd, resetai'd, and evp'd both NPCs (former first, latter second) to see if that'd work too, but nothing.

Any ideas? Or is it just not possible?
