I seem to be having trouble. This staff is supposed to calm weak enemies for sixty seconds, and soul trap them. I'm concerned with the calm because I want something to stop wolves attacking me so I don't have to kill them. So I zap the wolf with the staff and it still keeps attacking me.

Why is that?
