Improve Enchanting...enchantment

Post » Wed Dec 12, 2012 2:14 pm

Just curious if it's even been discussed or stated anywhere, why there are no items that gives you stronger enchantments. I know there are potions that do that. But there are also potions for Blacksmithing and Alchemy. But there are also items that you can wear like Ring of Major Smithing, that give you a % boost in improving weapons and armor. The same for Alchemy, you can wear things that give you a % boost in you created potions. So why not anything like that for Enchanting? Or is there and after 10 months of playing, I've just never found one?

It doesn't exist.

There also isn't an alchemy potion that boosts alchemy.

I guess because it would allow you to just keep beefing the skill to infinity... similar to the restoration glitch.

There is the alchemy/enchant loop, but it only goes so far and does require multiple skills to accomplish.

Ah, I don't use Alchemy as much so I thought I had seen such a potion. I didn't think so...and with perks and potions, you are right, it gets pretty high. Just curious really.

What the the alchemy/enchant loop?

Skyrim is my first Elder Scroll game and while I've played the crap out of it, I read these threads of what everyone knows and I still see and learn things daily. lol

IMO the enchantments you can have when you got the skill in 100 are already too much. For example I made a sword with enchantments 50 fire damage + 41 frost damage with the fire enchantment perk and minor enchanting potion. Those enchants make that sword enough over powered as it is that I dont even have to upgrade it on a grindstone.

Morrowind allowed those sorts of infinite loops but they took control of that in Oblivion and infinite loops did not reappear in Skyrim other than the aforementioned restoration glitch.

You can loop a little in Skyrim by making stronger fortify alchemy gear and then using that to make a stronger potion to boost enchant, and then doing it all over again, but you quickly reach diminishing returns.

Alchemy Enchant loop. You can create an enchanted item that boosts alchemy, and you can make an alchemy potion that boosts enchant. So with enough grand souls, and enchant boosting ingredients you can use potions to make enchanted gear to make potions to make enchanted gear.....

After Alchemy and Enchant are both at 100 and fully perked(at least the ones you need) you eventually hit a ceiling where they don't go up anymore, but it does give you a pretty big boost.

There is a set of gear added in Dragonborn that gives +10 Enchanting. The only gear that does that, as far as I know.

If you max out enchant and have both perks in destruction for fire and frost damage you can make some scary bad enchantments on weapons without even using potions. The destruction perks that increase damage by 50% apply to enchanted weapons too, for some strange reason.

Can you disenchant it and apply it to several other types of gear in a more powerful form?

Ahhh, yes. I have read about doing that with creating the enchanters potions. That's way too much work. lol

I guess the Dragonborn DLC item the gives the +10 Enchanting is what made me think of it. Thanks for the responses! I just always loved enchanting.

And no, it's a unique item and you can't disenchant it. I tried.

Yeah I noticed that too. If you choose perks from the destruction skill tree that up your fire, frost or shock spells those perks will also affect your enchanting. Pretty nice imo :P

Sadly, no. :( Can't do that to any of the other unique enchantments on the set, either.
