Same six marriages

Post » Thu Dec 13, 2012 2:51 am

Are same-six marriages permitted in this game? I've just gone through a list of potential male spouses and they look a sorry lot, I don't fancy any of them. Some of the females don't look too bad though. It's not about six, just finding someone who might be an agreeable companion.
Unless anyone playing a female character can make suggestions as to which males might be worth going after. Personally, the idea of marriage has few attractions for me, but there might be some advantage to having a partner.

Yes, there are same-six marriages.

Skyrim.

Set in a fantasy medieval times era.

Still more progressive than the USA.

Yeah, I went there.

Thats gay.

Seriously though, here in Maryland there are same six marriages. Plus 8 others states and DC. I think within 10 years same six marriage will be legal everywhere in the US, the tide is turning quickly.

The last time I married a person in skyrim, it was Jenassa. She hangs out in the Drunken Huntsman in Whiterun.

One hopes, Myrhn.

The south will continuously try to bring the rest of the country into the social policies of the Dark Ages. You can't even bank on the Supreme court with senile bigots like Scalia and Thomas trolling around.

Anyways, we're off topic here with our political talk.

As George Will recently said "The opposition to gay marriage is literally dying off"

I wish that the marriage dynamics were a little more complex then "Do me a favor, wear an Amulet of Mara afterwards, and lets get hitched." Feels like RP opportunities were missed.

Stop this topic immediately. I don't know what the OP intended, but this thread is encouraging flame wars. This is a touchy topic on both sides, and cannot end well. Does anyone know how to get a mod to stop this thread?

The only one who seems to be offended is you. There is same six marriage in skyrim, and they were just asking 'what are good partners?'.

To the OP: all the partners are virtually the same, and even though their specific response might differ, they don't have any unique comments or dialogue. They all cook (or stop after a few days :P), they all open up an invisible shop that gives you 100 gold each day and the possibility to sell and buy things, they all give the Lover's Comfort bonus if you sleep when they are in the same cell (they don't need to sleep).

I prefer to marry followers, to be able to take them along, get the bonus everywhere, and for RP purposes. Two of my characters have gotten married: a female to Vilkas, and a male to Brelyna.

And you don't even get a discount :( A missed opportunity, Bethesda, I'm telling you.

Honestly, if its a real marriage, your spouse should be constantly bugging you for money.

Not exactly, they have a right to speak their beliefs and convince others to throw their lot in with them. They're not all homophobes for refusing to roll over. Nobody's right or wrong here. So yeah, let's keep the attacks and politics out of this discussion.

True. I'm a thane in nine holds, the leader of the Thieves Guild and a legendary slayer of dragons. I should be giving my wife 100 (or 1000, why limit myself?) gold a day, not the other way around.

As to the OP, yes it's permitted. You get 100 gold each day and a bonus for resting in the same bed with them. All the marriageable men and women are programed to be bisixual when you put on the amulet of Mara.
