I had a couple of the usual problems related to main world crashes, like Louis Letrush or the glowing Nirnroot. At least, that's what people were speculating caused the freezing problems at the time. Up until 1.8, no patch changed my situation at all. Then 1.8 the other day finally seemed to fix everything. I assumed it was because of the cloned Louis Letrush, because that was the one serious bug present in my game still unresolved after all this time, but addressed in 1.8. Whatever the reason was, the important thing is that with 1.8 I was finally able to ride through Skyrim again without crashes. Until now.
It started again.
I can go to most places in Skyrim without problem, so the situation improved a lot, but all it took was two new place-specific crashes to ruin my game entirely all over again.
I only have one questline left: the Civil War. Obviously, I decided to not even try playing that back in March because I knew it involved lots of travel through the open world, and that would invariably crash my game. With everything working fine after 1.8, however, I thought it was finally safe to play that last quest. Wrong. I'm at the point where I have to meet the Imperial Army at the Eastmarch Camp and that whole area is inaccessible. No matter if I try approaching it north or south, the game always crashes when I get to certain distance. So there you go, game breaking bug again. Even with most Skyrim playable now, I still can't finish my game. Without being able to reach the army in Eastmarch, the quest can't go on. Just great. Of all places. I should've known better and just forget about the game once and for all.
I'm not sure what I'm accomplishing with this post, but oh well. It's just ridiculous. Every time I take a look at threads here is the same story. People whose game gets seemingly fixed or completely ruined after each patch, yet plenty of unacceptable errors persisting and/or coming back month after month.
Beautiful game, fun while it lasts, but really, if the price to pay for it is all this cr*p, not being able to finish, being forced to constantly babysit the game, study countless websites to make sure you don't do something wrong, or coming here to complain to somehow get rid of your frustration... It's absolutely not worth it.
