Can you take your already-existent character into the DLC or do you play as someone else entirely?

You play as your character just taking a boat to a separate island.

It's a dlc, in other words, an add-on for your game. Not a new game. And since it's a sandbox game, you can choose to either take an existing character from Skyrim to Solstheim, or create a new character and bring that one with you.

I guess it depends on you. You can take your pre-existing character to Solstheim or create a new one just for the DLC.

And then take that new character back to Skyrim?

Yes. Which is what I'm planning for this character actually. I'm going to do Dragonborn and then do the MQ.

edit - you can also travel back and forth as often as you want. You can adventure in Solstheim for a while and then go back to Skyrim and then return back to Solstheim. As long as you can afford the 250 septims per trip that is.

I don't know how that's going to work because would that mean you'd skip the first scene at Helgen or would it force you into it as soon as you came to Skyim after you finished what was in Solstheim?

You do understand this is DLC. You can play it with any existing character, or make a new character.


You can choose the order you do quests.
