Playing an enchanter

I have yet to truly explore the Enchanting skill in Skyrim. I have played characters who have used it, and taken a few perks. But I'd like to really focus on it.

The problem is, I have a hard time coming up with a character who would really use Enchanting.

Most peoples' idea of an Enchanter would probably be some form of mage. However, in my experience, pure mages can get by pretty well without enchanting. Plus, my pure mages kill stuff with magic, not with weapons, so a good portion of the enchant experience would be skipped over. (It would be different if Enchanting allowed us to actually cast spells through items, like in Morrowind... then I could easily see being a scholarly mage type.)

The other two most basic archetypes, warriors and thieves, would probably avoid enchanting - at least for RP.

I guess some kind of hybrid is the best answer here, as I would want/need to use some physical weapon skill in order to get the most out of Enchanting. A spellsword or something. But I typically see spellswords as mercs, not studious researchers.

Clearly I just need to think of a different way to 'see' a character who would rely extensively on this skill. Any ideas for RP, build, or mechanics?

Warriors could work well, provided they're not the typical hot-blooded variant. Enchanting could therefore be seen as a means of maintaining one's equipment; take some dwarven ingots, some steel, forge a sword, head to the enchanting table and put a nice enchantment or two to make it better at its job.

An "Adventurer" would work as well. Lacking an archetype, they master a varitey of skills to get them through their travels. Bit of diplomacy here, sneaking there, beat that bandit over the head with a magically-enchanted hammer, fire off a few spells to weaken that troll before it reaches you... If it's effective, they have no reason not to use it.

How about not ever recharging your weapon...smith a weapon, enchant it,once the enchantment runs out thats it...you must create a new one.
