Post » Tue Dec 18, 2012 6:14 am

so i just noticed the amount of gold i had accumulated selling stuff to river wood .-.

also once i invest in a shop how long do i stay away for it so the gold invest becomes permanent ? and actually increases the gold they have? like river wood went up to 11k after i stayed away for 2 in game years i think cuz i forgot i invested in it and now its my main go to shop

Need somewhere to spend your money? Pay trainers for skills that you don't use often or find inconvenient to use, but want to skill up.

Lucan Valerius having 10k+ is a bug. Merchants have an extra 500 gold immediately after investing with them. They don't accumulate gold over time.

Once you invest, the gold increase is immediate. Lucan's Riverwood trader is special case. You get 10k increase when you invest with Lucan. You can say that Lucan was very shrewd with his money after you invested with him.

Some people, including the dudes who make Unofficial Skyrim Patch, consider this a bug. I disagree with them. It's an awesome Easter Egg.

There are couple of other quirky things I have noticed with investing. If you invest Taarie and marry her, she becomes a stay home merchant with 1250 gold instead of the usual 750 gold general merchant. When you invest with Adrianne Avenici, both she and her husband increase their cash to 1600.

Once you get closer to lv 90, training gets really expensive (5-10k or more per level). Yes, at lower levels, it's hardly noticeable.

Training at high level will cost a bit more. It's around 4000 gold per level when you get to level 80 or 90.

My favorite thing about having a lot of money is not needing to make more money. I stop making more when I get to around 100k. It affords me to not pick up things I do not need.

You can give Snilf in Riften gold. One septim at a time.

I don't worry about having too much money. As with any ES game, eventually having money at high levels is kind of meaningless. It's early on where you are scrabbling to get enough to buy a house or training where it matters.

What to do with 260k gold... go in a dungeon, put them in a burial urn/chest (as most dungeons reset and respawn everything in them) and forget you ever had them?

For me, making money is like leveling up skills. If I didn't feel the need to make more money, then something would be lost for me. There would be no need to keep making alchemy potions, no need to try to get to a town before the merchants all closed up for the day. That's why I like that trainers give me something to do with my money.

On that note...Skyrim needs some kind of casino, or some way for a rich adventurer to invest their money, and not the mere 500 gold (pocket change) that currently exists.
