So Skyrim was blamed on the news for The Sandy Hook Massacre

Post » Wed Dec 19, 2012 2:24 pm

I'm not sure what news channel it was, I was just skimming channels out of pure boredom.

But they did a report on the killers favorite games which were Starcraft, and Warcraft 3, and than did a brief investigation at game stop where they looked at popular violent games on shelves this holiday Christmas season and honed in on games like Call of Duty, Battlefield, Skyrim, Telltales Walking Dead, and others of that kin.

It's disgusting personally. Video games being constantly used as scapegoats where tragedies like this occur. They ignore Adam Lanza's favorite films, they ignore his favorite books, they ignore his favorite comic books, they ignore his favorite songs, but they don't forget what video games he enjoyed playing.

Disgusting. Just plain old disgusting. To be used as constant nonsensical scape goats time after time. Because, as if that is really why he killed 20 first graders, and 6 advlts, because he loved to play starcraft, and warcraft...UGH>

Same thing happened with the Norway massacre. The guy apparently trained with Call of Duty. These people who commit these atrocities are vile scum, but video games are, and will be used as scapegoats until this generation of gamers starts to mature.

Really? I thought the media had dropped that whole thing...guess not, sadly.

I think the same thing I do everytime I hear that sort of thing: If a song/game/movie/etc drives a person to commit such a horrible crime...something isn't right with them in the first place, it's not the game's fault.
