The act of being homosixual

Don't you think someone might get the wrong idea? Let's say that someone is talking trash on the forums, so a moderator suspends him for "flaming", and he thinks that the moderator is actually suspending him for being gay, and it will either sink into his self esteem or make him really angry. All you can do is hope that he either understands the context, or takes the second approach, because the first one might very well be his last.

Just a thought, the word is used increasingly often and quite offensively in the real world, if I were a moderator, being professional well respected members of the forums, I would at least consider using a different word

(I've done my best to avoid offensive words and immature tones in this topic, and respect the community guidelines, please respect me)

The word has a different context on the internet than in real life, just as the word "green" could mean 'money' if talking to businessmen, 'ecological' if talking to hippies, or 'marijuana' to stoners. It's all about context, and in this context flaming has no relation to homosixuality.

Flaming is not a new phrase. It has been around for about as long as the internet itself and simply refers to the act of attacking someone and trying to burn them to a crisp with your words.

That's like saying that somone should get offended when I use the word to tell them that the log I placed in the fireplace was successfully set alight.
