Skyrim + Bethesda collection of games on STEAM for $89.

Post » Sat Dec 22, 2012 9:56 am

So I was a bit surprised with the early sale on Steam. Wasn't expecting it till the weekend.

Anywho a friend just mentioned it to me and I he pointed me out to the "Bethesda Collection" which includes -

- Dishonoured
- Brink and its expanions
- Fallout - GTY Edition
- Fallout - New Vegas
- ES - Morrowind
- ES- Oblivion
- ES- Skyrim
The entire Quake collection and more.

All for $89.99

Now I am mostly interested in the Elder Scroll series and the Fallout ones. How good are the games (i know skyrim is simply amazing but i have no idea regarding the rest)?

Do you think its worth it? I would like to spoil myself this Christmas considering I have my birthday coming up on the 2nd week of January.

Morrowind > Fallout New Vegas > Oblivion > Skyrim in my opinion of course. If it wasen't for the fact I love fantasy more than sci fi, I'd say Fallout New Vegas is my favorite game that was published by Bethesda.

I hear Dishonoured is really good. Brink was just "eh". Fallout 3 is ok - New Vegas is better, in my opinion. Morrowind is a great game. Oblivion kinda stinks (again, opinion). Quake is really, really old school. 1 is like Doom with better graphics (regarding gameplay). Quake 2 has a better story, if you can really call it that, but the same type of mindless level-crawling. Quake 3 has no story at all (time warp a bunch of characters to an arena), and is made exclusively for multiplayer. Hell, if you want to play that, you may as well just go to www.quakelive.com. Quake Wars was terrible, but Quake 4 was fairly interesting. Played more like Doom 3 than anything.

Except for Dishourned, I've probably played every game in that bundle, so let me know if you have any questions on specifics. I was a huge Quake fan a long time ago - played the hell out of Quake 2 and 3 back when they were the shooters.

Yup I was into Quake years back.

However, I have evolved as a gamer. I've been taken in by the RPG genre and kinda moved from FPS and other games.

I actually think its quite a good deal just for those 5 games (dishonoured, Fallout and the 3 ES gamers). However, its still $89.99. LoL

I just looked at it. I haven't played Rage, either, but from what I gather, it's a lot like Borderlands minus the leveling mixed with typical shooter crap.

Your 5 (actually, 6, since Fallout 3 and New Vegas are two different games), plus Quake 4, Doom 3 and Rage make it a good deal. If the ES and Fallout games come with all the extra DLC content, then it's definitely worth it.

I would probably would buy it... if, you know, I didn't own most of those already.

I suppose Brink being thrown in as an added bonus also ups the value. That plays like Team Fortress 2, but I didn't really like it.

Dishonoured is probably worth 40-50 bucks alone. I've heard nothing but good things.

Fallout 3 is excellent. FONV is okay (if you like over the top spaghetti Western content... way overdone... and far less interesting characters than FO3). Note that the FO community was very split with FO3 and NV. However, if you love open world exploration with tons of content, FO3 is probably Bethesda's best effort to date.

Morrowind is probably the best actual roleplaying computer game ever done, so far. Bethesda started shifting to emphasis on action over roleplaying with Oblivion and continued this with Skyrim. To be clear, keep in mind that roleplaying relies on the character's abilities, not on the player's abilities (i.e., roleplaying has nothing to do with hand-eye coordination, player reflexes, etc., and relies on calculating outcomes based on the character's skills).

Oblivion is gorgeous to explore and was one of the most ambition games ever made when it came out. Oblivion was used as a prime benchmark test for PCs along with Crysis. I hindsight, some of Oblivion's shortcomings happened because it was supposed to be a launch title for the Xbox 360.

Basically, for cost to benefit (i.e., play value) Bethesda's Fallout and Elder Scrolls are some of the very best value available, particularly on PC with mods.

Alright, I think I'm done editing my post. heh.

Verdict; if you own the ES and Fallout games in that bundle, it's probably still worth buying at 89.99.

I would have considered getting it if oblivion and morrowind were game of the year editions as well as the fallout ones.

If they're all low in price individually, I'll buy a few of them.. I'm not interested in every one of those but I've been considering getting a few games since I passed up the last sale. I guess I'll do some thinking on what I want. :D

If you only want TES and Fallout, don't buy them now. Wait until they're a daily or a flash deal, this should make their price drop by 75%. And if you miss it, well, you can always pick them up on the last day of the sale for the same price they are now :)

You should only be interested in TES AND Fallout.

Fallout 3 - Goty Edition (Worth It)
Fallout New Vegas (I'll let other people decide)

But all TES You should get.
