I know that throughout Skyrim and a lot of the Elder Scrolls series there seem to be a lot of times when someone seems to be a good well to do respectable person and suddenly everything gets turned on it's head and you find out they have skeletons in their closet. And vice versa when an organisation seems to be evil they end up being a necessary evil attempting to achieve a greater good. Morality such as this seems to be at the heart of the games storyline.

The Thieves Guild questline for example allows you to eventually give the traitor Mercer Frey what he deserves, return the Skeleton Key to where it belongs and bring Karliah out of Exile and drag her name out of the mud.

However I'm still trying to come up with reasons which could justify my heroic dragonborn joining the dark brotherhood. I mean there are a lot of the targets throughout the questline who do seem to deserve it in some way OR there is an obvious person who wants them dead for example:-

- Grelod The Kind - Obvious she chained and beat the children and was a bit of a monster in my eyes

-Vasha - He basically admits that he deserves it and he seems to be the only one in the hut of the 3 captives that deserves it

- Narfi - I believe there is sufficient evidence to suggest that he himself killed his sister and if not his death may on the other hand be a mercy killing

- Beitild - She seems to be a very evil and greedy person obsessed with outdooing her husband and treats her workers terribly. She also thanks you if you kill her husband

- Alain Dufont - Quite obvious, he's the leader of a group of murdering bandits

- Nilsine Shatter-Shield (Optional) - Perhaps she doesn't deserve it because Muiri wants to kill her to make the family pay for not believing her plus the mother kills herself if she dies so maybe it's best to leave her alive

-Hern/Hert - They are both vampires so god only knows what they've been doing or who they've hurt/killed

- Agnis - I believe the soldiers at the barracks where she is may want her to be killed because she keeps them awake at night sleepwalking but she doesn't deserve it. However she needs to be killed to progreess the db questline

- Maluril Ferano - He is aligned with a group of bandits which makes him obviously up to something no good

- Safia - She is the leader of a group of nasty pirates

- The rest of the contracts are related to setting up a kill on the emperor so all serve a means to an end

However the following I have no idea why they deserve to die or who wants them dead and for what reason:-

- Ennodius Papius
- Lurbuk
- Deekus
- Ma'randru-jo
- Anoriath
- Helvard

Can anyone shed any more light on any of the above and are any of the above kills optional perhaps such as Helvard because killing him apparently affects Hearthfire badly?
