I just got the game and when I tried to use the key that was inside the DVD case it said that it`s invalid and that it was used by some other steam account. Is there a way that my key could have already been used? I think the first time I typed it I mispelled some letters with numbers but on the second try I even called a friend to check with me if I type it right. And even then it still said that the key is invalid and that it was activated or used by another account. Please I do need your help. Thank you!

In the meantime, try this: close Steam and relaunch it, then try again to enter the key.

Yes I bought it online from a big retailer in my country that also has shops all over the place. It`s not the first time that I bought a game, hardware, etc. from them.

BTW in the Steam window there is a button that lets you activate your game key. Should I do that before using the key for when I install Skyrim?

I closed it and restarted ti again but it said the same thing. I even contacted Bethesda to see if anything can be done
