Where To Find.....

Post » Tue Jan 01, 2013 9:50 am

Ok, I'm in a little situation. As I know the best Fortify Enchantment potion would be the one you can make yourself by doing the trick of making the Alchemy Gear, then more enchanting potions etc... I unfortunately haven't leveled to perfection, and I happen to be all at 100 skills, and no more leveling to do and therefore no more Skill Perks to apply to my Skill Trees... And I left my Alchemy Skill Tree not optimal for this.

So when I do the "Potion Trick" thing, the BEST Fortify Enchantment Potion I can make is 23% (opposed to the 32% you can get doing the trick IF you have the appropriate skill perks in the Alchemy tree). This is because in my Alchemy tree I have only 2 perks applied to the "Alchemist" and NONE applied to "Benefactor" (which is really needed. BUT at least my skills are 100.

Now, on my journey through the game, I have in my chest 4 Fortify Enchantment potions that are 25% (60 seconds too !) As you can see, these fortify enchantment potions are better than the best fortify enchantment potions I can make myself no matter what I do. AND even though I am less than perfect (I know), I would like to start doing the best possible enchantments I can do for this particular character now. SO.......

NOW HERE'S THE QUESTION (you needed the explanation so you just don't tell me to make them myself) :

Where the heck are these potions I already found ? Or who sells them ? Cause I've looked all over and I just can't find anymore. Preferably I like to find a merchant that sells them...

Thanks !

Alchemists randomly stock them. They might also appear in the chest in Riften if you've done Inguns' quest.

May also appear in random loot.

Alchemists restock every two days so you could try the 'alchemist loop' eg Riften - Whiterun -Falkreath - Markarth -Solitude - Morthal - Dawnstar - Windhelm - Riften.

If you're on PC you could always 'find' some via console command

additem 00039d12 xxx

(where xxx is the quantity)

Thanks http://www.gamesas.com/user/856827-kezardinjnr/ for the help and input. Ok, I was afraid of that... so ultimately there is no "for sure" place they're at every time. Understood.

Yea, I did the Inguns' quest, so her chest is filled with a few potions every so often for me (maybe thats where I got these that I have ? lol) -

Random loot is exactly what I am afraid of :-( As that would just take forever. I'd like about 21 bottles or more, just to be able to do a bunch of enchanting through-out the rest of my characters game. And realistically at least 7 right now for a full gear outfit with jewelry, etc..

The shopping loop was what I was hoping for, as that would be possible to stock up quicker... BUT I swear I tried the Riften, Solitude, Windhelm and Whiterun Alchemists, and they don't carry them. I'll try the 4 others. I was just asking if (like on Oblivion) a particular Alchemist is known for Enchanting potions :-)

I unfortunately am not on a PC. I am on the XBox, or I'd do that console command in a flash :-D

Why don't you try to find a fortify alchemy gear and, after disenchanting, put this enchantment on gloves, necklace, ring, circlet and a Falmer Helmet. You get FIVE enchanted items and with the Mage Stone + well rested bonus, I'm sure you can craft stronger potions (drinking also a fortify restoration before). Drink the new created fortify enchanting each time before enchanting another set of fortify alchemy and see if it helps... I hope it will

Instead of touring all the alchemists' shops in Skyrim, try the "reset merchant" trick: quicksave, punch the vendor, quickload, check the inventory, if what you want is not there, reload and punch the vendor again. This resets the vendor's inventory. Just remember to quickload after you punch them, before you get nailed by the guards!

Thanks for this advice, and it sounds like it would work due to 2 things I didn't do when I was trying this same method... But that makes me want to ask you to be sure. So The reason why I didn't do 5 enchanted fortify alchemy gears, is because, how can you wear 2 head pieces at the same time ? (I do already have the fortify alchemy and smithing enchantments in my enchantment knowledge).

Next is, how does drinking a fortify restoration potion effect my created potions ? Also, doesn't the mage stone just boost the speed of your leveling ? And not the potency of your magic ? I'm a werewolf, so I get no well rested bonus, but I never noticed what that does. I never sleep in these games since the health began regenerating on its own, I just never felt I needed to. What do I gain from sleep/well rested bonus ? I never knew. lol

WOW !! I never knew this existed. Funny. But what exactly is "quicksave" and "quickload" ? As in just save quickly and then load quickly ? Or is there a actual "Quicksave" and "Quickload" option ? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Available on PC only, as far as I know.

I thought 23% was the max for Fortify Alchemy? That's as high as I've gotten anyway and I have all the perks.

Ahhhh, this is big news for me. THANKS !! As this may (just may) change the outcome a touch. I will now try again (as I was before, but now with a extra enchanted piece of gear on), and let you know what I come up with.

So what about the Mage Stone and Fortify Restoration ? Does that actually help my outcome for what I am trying ?

Thanks for clearing up the Reset Merchant trick thing. Guess I can't do it :-( But what is the difference between quicksave/quickload and normal save and load ? Would the Reset Merchant trick work for me on the XBox ?

Well as you can tell, I am definitely not as Skyrim savvy as many others on here, and I was able to get my Fortify Alchemy potions to 28% and that was with only the first 2 (outta 5) of the first "Alchemist" perk. I did not even have that to 5 outta 5 and then "Benefactor" as well which is highly needed to get maximum outcome. I am sure with all them perks maxed out, I would get some well above 28%.

28% sounds right. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe this number is a hard cap on +Alchemy gear. Obviously, you can boost the skill by other means but I think you are stuck with 28% on your gear.

The reset trick will likely still work on XBox - use the normal save and reload procedure.

Sorry, I meant the quicksave/quickload functions are PC only

I am totally unsure about that. But I hope someone more knowledgeable comes in to verify that or not. Cause all I do know is, Fortify Alchemy Potions aside, I can't get my Fortify Enchantment Potions to where I was told was the max for them (32%). Mine are at 22% best case. This was with me even trying the secret thing. BUT now may be different once I try it with 5 pieces of F. Alchemy gear on instead of 4. I just thought maybe I could have gotten higher F. Alchemy enchantments if my F. Enchantment potions got better.

Cool, I will try it then and let you all know if it does work. - Also though, I will try the whole 5 gear thing first though, just incase I can end up making F Enchantment potions stronger than or equal to 25%, cause if so, then I'd rather make them, than look for them.

I'll keep you guys posted on this, as this is all getting rather confusing,.. ha ha, gonna try one thing at a time here.

Again, thanks for the help !

And don't forget to craft 1 or 2 potions of Fortify Restoration. Next move, after getting the new enchanted 5 gears, drink the Fortify Restoration potion then equip your gears, craft Fortify Restoration, unequip gears, drink, equip gears and craft again. Wait to see the real value and try to create your fort. enchanting potions. Try to continue like that but, please, save a lot before each action in case it turns into negative effect. And yes Mage stone helps (a few) and well rested apparently also, though I never did it..

As for the Falmer Helmet it still works with a circlet but I don't know about the Forsworn's glitch as I never used it. I prefer to go kill a few Falmers to get the Helmet.

I saw on youtube someone drinking Fortify Restoration and then clicking on each gear to unequip and equip.... It works also.

How is your ehchantment skill? If you drink a resto potion and creat a fortify enchant potion, that fortify enchant potion will be beefier than what you normally would be able to make, correct? Yes.

Swig the fort enchant potion and create some fort. alchemy gear quickly. Prior to creating, make sure you have and use either black or grand soul gems to get the full % value. You'll hopefully get a boost on the enchanted alchemy gear more than what you would pickup, stock from any vendor. After you create the juiced up alchemy gear, head over to the table and equip it and follow Chimpy's advice to start the loop. Hopefully creating some gear with a better enchant % than the stock game gives you, will get you over the resto-loop hump.

I can't see why the perks would be necessary though. 100 should be enough to get you past the hump unles syou weren't doing the loop correctly. PM me if you have any troubles, Infa. Good luck!
