How do I get those fancy water effects that came with 1.5?

Post » Wed Jan 02, 2013 3:39 pm

Hi there!

I'm sure the solution is quite obvious, but I wasn't able to find anything.

Do you remember that "Player surfacing" effect? I guess it came with 1.5 but I'm not sure. Fact is, "diving back to air" is still like Morrowind or Oblivion for me.

Is there something wrong with my ini?

Hmmm not sure what you mean from what you described, but I know another water effect that was added a while back that allows a more realistic "blurry" vision underwater just like in real life, as well as seeing your surroundings in a clear, shimmering shader when looking up while underwater.

Other than that, your .ini is fine. If what I described is what you are talking about, the perhaps you have a mod that conflicts with it?

Since I was not able to find a video of what I'm talking about, I hope I have not dreamt it! :bonk:

What I mean is when you were diving underwater, then surface back to air. As far as I can remember, it was like a camera that just came out of the water, with waterdrops still on the camera lens and stuff.

I just re-installed Skyrim, no mods involved.

Like this as seen in http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=1W1woy5sQeI#t=270s? I don't recall something like that being added into the game. Must of been a thought you had, I guess :shocking:

You're not getting confused with Crysis are you?
That had some cool effects where you'd be standing close to a waterfall and you could see water droplets forming on your visor then running down. Same thing when you broke the surface, you could see water trickles running down your visor.

Yes, exactly! Just with a larger amount of remaining water, not just a few drops.

I'm confused. Oblivion and Skyrim were the last modern games I played. I'm really confused now.

Without mods, vanilla Morrowind/Oblivion/Skyrim did not have the effects you are thinking of IIRC. Perhaps you are thinking of blood decals in Skyrim?

I searched and searched, and came up with nothing that shows there is a player surfacing effect from water in vanilla Skyrim
