I Think I Have a Problem

Post » Wed Jan 02, 2013 9:51 am

Every time I make a new character I end up deleting him, just because I dont like the way he looks. I'll be the first to admit that I'm terrible using the character creation. For whatever reason even though I the sliders are different I always think that I make the exact same, male Nord. Does anyone else have this issue or am I the only one?

Have you tried making something that's NOT a Nord? You have two other "Caucasian" races to fiddle with there, chief.

Eh I like the Nords the best, but I've made some other races as well.

Well it doesn't matter if you like them best if you can't get them to look right, if it just outright leads to you starting back over again...Actually, if you bought Dawnguard, you COULD just go visit the Face Changer...Food for thought.

It's not that hard, Make a character slide him into what you want him to be.

TIP: When you get off the Wagon in Helgen, Manually save so you can create another character

You should also take all the time you want, You don't have to rush it. And you could also play in 1st Person :)

Nope, I can't say that I relate to that problem, fortunately. If I don't like the way I look, I can just use the console to change it. Thankfully, I only had to mess around with the FaceGen screen for a little while before finding the perfect look for my Nord.

I went for some cosmetic work half way through my last playthrough, it didnt stop the Whiterun guards that were after me from recognising me though, although I did feel so much better about myself afterwards LOL!

Eh I dont think it would fit my character, but maybe a criminalish character. Its partially that for whatever the reason my male Nords look all the same and I just svck at character creation. My favorite character that I made was actually a Dunmer using a Draculaish look for him. I hate the beast races, Bretons look exactly like Nord and Imperials for the most part, so that leaves me with the elves. So either I svck it up and play as an elf or learn not to svck with character creation.

...Or you could just Theater Of The Mind the whole change in appearance as though he always looked like that.
No one's gonna think less of you for retconning your own headcanon.

If it helps, my personal experience has taught me that being spontaneous with character creation usually yields better cosmetic results than trying to plan for a specific look.
