Stuck on Style of Play

Post » Fri Jan 04, 2013 12:41 am

I'm stuck on stealth. All my toons are either evil assassin types or goody Robin Hood thief types. I tried Mage once, all that button mashing casting prep spells and damage spells was just too much for me. As for straight melee, my Orc could clear a room pretty fast, just not so good for dragons. Him being a sword and board with no bow didn't help. :)

I guess it's just immensely satisfying to me to one or two shot a mob undetected with a bow or sneak up behind and plunge that dagger into them. :D

Anyone else stuck on a particular play style for whatever reason? Or am I nuts?

I was stuck on stealth for a while. Stealth, and alchemy, because I couldn't just walk by stuff in the wild and not pick it up. Then I forced myself to abandon alchemy completely and am overall more happy. I've been anti-alchemy so long now my next character will likely use it.

When I clear a place out I tend to switch between stealth + bow, sword and board, and two hand... Mixing some destructo in between all. I cant decide where I want to specialize lol, and because of it, right now im feeling really weak compared to NPCs.

I do tend to end up being a sneaky archer, but that's mainly cos I'm chicken.

IIRC, Buffy (Acadian's char) on the Oblivion forum has some really interesting times with using illusion - worth a read, as it's similar to being stealthy, but is a novel approach to it.... there is a lot of satisfaction from watching stoopid bandits attack each other.

Conjuration is good fun too - esp. bow and command type spells....

I actually like to be stuck on stealth (I have an stealth magic user that I've been using FOREVER ) because it means that I would have time to slow down and enjoy the game and look for the little titbits and role play whenever I'm in the mood.

I've been struggle to play anything else other than a stealth build. The other day I went back to my dual wield archer. She clears dungeon at the speed of the energizer bunny on crack, but I just can't feel the "cold breeze in my face" in every single moment I play my stealth mage; unless I just take time to casually stroll through Skyrim... but it just doesn't feel the same.

I've been using stealth since Morrowind... Just find it more fun. You have a ton of money early on, the stealth-oriented guild questlines are always the best, it forces you to slow down and appreciate your surroundings more. I always end up doing alchemy, too, just because I can't handle not picking every flower I see.

I'm kind of a svcker for stealth builds. Won't be any better since once I get this game with Dawnguard, I'll do a Stealth/Vampire Lord hybrid.
